down with the pod

as most of you know, im a music fanatic. so nearly a year ago i decided to purchase my very first mp3 player. i love the idea of being able to store, transport and listen to all (well most) of my music on a single electronic device thats about the size of a cassette tape. (isnt it cool how technology progresses) so not knowing much about mp3 players and having heard and read so many good reviews about apple's iPod, i decided to get one of those. what a mistake.
first of all, apple's software to upload music to your iPod, iTunes, is shit. ive never been so frustrated with a piece of software in my life. secondly, my iPod crashed, apparently the hard drive wore-out already, not being a year old, i was irate. so i called the manufacturer to check if my warranty was still valid and they told me that it had expired 26 days prior...shocker. i threw out some rebuttals, telling them i havent even had it for a year. they replied with, "im sorry, theres nothing we can do, policy". so i politely told them id never buy an apple product again. now, im sure this is going to drive them to bankruptcy, but i had to try. they were apologetic, which as you know, doesnt get me a new iPod.
now i have a friend who swears by apple products and has quite successful luck with them. to that i say goodonya. i'll never buy an apple product again and suggest the same to all future mp3 buyers. im now in the process of researching new mp3 players. if you have any suggestion...please inform!
