leon, nicaragua was a very intersting revolutionary town that used to be the capital of nicaragua. a lot of wars amongst the governing powers took place here, in which you can still see bullet marks in destroyed buildings that are still standing, dramatic murals were painted as reminders. a few are shown below:

there were aslo many fine colonial buildings and cathedrals.
